AFIRM released Version 11 of the 2026 Restricted Substances List (RSL) on 31 January 2026. Key changes include adding Acetophenone Azine as a new allergen, reducing Bisphenol limits due to endocrine disruptor concerns, adding a note and link to France's PFAS decree, and re-adding PFAS substances with corrected testing methods.

Version 11 of the 2026 AFIRM RSL was published on 31 January 2026.

The main updates are below:

  1. Acetophenone Azine newly added – Acetophenone azine is a new, strong allergen detected from sport equipment (shin pads), and more generally of other sport equipment based on ethylene vinyl acetate.  This was added due to the checking from the French Market for the Sports brands.
  2. Bisphenol limits reduced – Bisphenol is hot topic in EU & US due to Endocrine disrupting properties, limit reduced based on the best available technology and feasibility within the supply chain.
  3. PFAS added important note and link to recently published Decree imposing new PFAS limits in France

  1. Re-added PFAS which removed during 2025 midyear update with remark.  And also to correct the typo on PFAS testing method categories.
